Mission

The BPC is an artist-run, 501c-3 non-profit, self-service, photographic center located in Portland, Maine. We support, teach and inspire artists in all stages of their careers with our state of the art analog and digital facilities, educational programs and lecture series. The collective consists of photographers working in fine art, documentary, alternative processes and commercial photography who share a passion for making photographs come to life in the physical form of prints. The Bakery functions from the efforts of its volunteer members, from donation support by our sponsors and from our annual photography exhibition and auction known as Photo A Go-Go.

The Bakery has been supported through generous contributions from Jocelyn Lee, Brian Urqhart, Smith Galtney, John Costango, Judy Glickman Lauder, and Bruce Brown, as well as grants from the Oak Foundation, Bangor Savings Bank and the Maine Arts Commission, and from our corporate sponsors: Wex, Allagash Brewing, Northeast Photographic, Hunt’s Photo and Video, Preti Flaherty, Maine Photo Works, Knickerbocker Group, Maine Studio Works, Maine Museum of Photographic Arts, Urban Farm Fermentory, Casco Bay Frames, & Bath Savings.

Thank you for your continued support!
