It’s that time of year again! The Bakery Photo Collective is gearing up for the 19th Annual Photo A Go-Go, our popular fine-art photography auction.

Since its debut in 1999, Photo A Go-Go has become one of southern Maine’s most-anticipated annual arts events – a memorable evening with live music, local drinks and eats, and a space full of old friends and amazing photography.

The Bakery Photo Collective hosts this annual silent auction to support its facility and programs. The event features work from established and emerging photographers at incredible prices, and also gains the attention of many collectors, curators and galleries in Maine.

Photo a Go-Go happens Friday, December 13th, at 630 Forest Avenue in Portland, starting at 6pm.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

 

Deadline for JPEG submissions:  Tuesday, October 15 (11:59 PM eastern standard time).


  • Applicants can submit up to three photos.


  • Due to space restraints, please limit the framed size of your piece to no larger than 24” x 30”


  • This year, artists can specify if they’d like to receive a 25% cut if their work is sold, or donate the full sale of their work to the Bakery Collective. If you specify a 25% cut, please note that we cannot pay you until we receive payment from the buyer of your work.


Please prepare your images and related texts as follows:

Carefully edit a group of no more than three JPEG images. All submissions should be JPEG files, with a long side of 1800px. Only one image will potentially be chosen per photographer.

You will also need to have the following information available:
a. an artist bio
b. specific information for each piece:
- Title (Please title image files in following format: “Lastname_Firstname_Title of Photo”)
- Year of exposure
- Value of artwork
- Reserve Price (we recommend 20% of value)
- Size (height X width)
- Medium of finished work (inkjet print, chromogenic print, etc.)


Failure to provide this information and/or title your files accordingly may result in your work being disqualified

Presentation of Work:
If your work is chosen, you are responsible for framing your image. We cannot provide frames for any unframed work we receive. We will not accept unframed work.


Shipping:
Artists whose work is chosen for the exhibition - and who are sending their work and not delivering it - are required to include a pre-paid return address label with their submission, in the chance their work is not sold. The postage is charged only if the label is used.


Promotional Use Rights:
Each artist retains copyright to their own images. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. By submission for jurying, artists whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant The Bakery Photo Collective the right to use their images for the purpose of promoting the artist, promoting The Bakery’s programs, promoting exhibitions and subsequent display on The Bakery’s website of current and past exhibitions. Promotions and images may also be placed on social networks for The Bakery Photo Collective with artist credit.


Your entry constitutes understanding and agreement with the conditions outlined in this prospectus.
