Photo A Go-Go
Photo A Go-Go
Every December, we at the Bakery Photo Collective hold our annual fine art photography auction, Photo A Go-Go. An unforgettable event with live music, local drinks and snacks, and great company, in its 16 years it has become one of southern Maine's greatest art parties.
The Bakery Photo Collective hosts this annual silent auction to support its darkroom and digital facility, events throughout the year, and artist residencies. This year's auction featured work from established and emerging photographers at incredible prices. The event gains the attention of many collectors, curators and galleries in Maine.
The Return of Photo A Go-Go!
The Bakery Photo Collective is thrilled to announce that Photo A Go-Go is back!
Exhibition Dates: December 1 - 8
Auction: December 8
The 17th Annual Photo A Go-Go will debut in our new Portland space and the adjacent Speedwell Projects during the first week of December.
It all kicks off with a First Friday preview on December 1st. Then an amazing community auction and party – featuring food, live music, and the work of photographers both local and national - happens Friday December 8th.
A few things are different in this year’s auction:
Photo A Go-Go Will be a Week-long Exhibit: This year’s Go-Go will be a curated show that will hang at The Bakery Photo Collective and Speedwell Projects, from December 1st through 8th. This is an amazing opportunity for the Collective to spotlight photographers of all stripes: professionals and beginners, students and established artists, local and national photographers.
Entry Will Be Juried: Due to the space restrictions of our new home on Forest Avenue, a jurying committee will select this year’s exhibiting photographers.
Photographers Will Be Paid for Sold Work! For the first time in Go-Go history, photographers will receive up to a 50% cut if their work is sold.
A Jury Prize for Best Emerging Photographer! In addition to auction sales, the Bakery will assemble a jury that will honor an outstanding submission by a student or emerging photographer.
Deadline for JPEG submissions: Monday, October 23 (11:59 PM eastern standard time).
Applicants can submit up to three photos.
Donation amount: This year we are giving back to artists whose work is sold in the show/auction. We have three options: Full donation (artist donates full amount of selling price), artist receives 25% of selling price, or artist receives 50% of selling price.
